AirAsia X (AAX) plans to start flying to Auckland, Melbourne and Perth from November. Read More » The LCC will serve Auckland one-stop via Sydney from Kuala Lumpur. The airline also is returning to Melbourne Tullamarine, rather than the outlying Melbourne Avalon Airport, for the resumption of its service to the Victorian capital. All three routes - Auckland via Sydney, Melbourne and Perth – will be served three times a week with A330-300s configured with 365 economy seats at nine abreast and 12 flatbed premium seats. “We are thrilled to recommence our services to Australia and New Zealand as core parts of our expansion strategy with our famous great value fares for medium to long-haul travel,” AAX CEO, Benyamin Ismail, said. “We also are pleased to announce our service to Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) which offers more flexibility and connectivity [than Avalon] for our guests travelling to and from the state of Victoria.”
