China Eastern Airlines outlines conditions for restarting 737 MAX services

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) is still some way from resuming 737 MAX operations, local media reports, quoting CEA vice chair, Li Yangmin, at an investor briefing. Read More » The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued an airworthiness directive in December 2021 that cleared the type to resume flying in China after the U.S. OEM made design changes to the MAX, revised pilot training courses and updated operational manuals to address safety concerns about the narrow-body aircraft. However, no Chinese carrier has returned the MAX to commercial flying. In addition to airworthiness approval, Li said CEA’s MAX airplanes must complete modification, parking recovery and pilot training for the type’s return to service and added the MAX will resume flying only after it met relevant national requirements.
