Japan’s Air Do and Solaseed Air outline ambitions for joint venture

Japanese carriers, Air Do and Solaseed Air, have unveiled the structure and goals of their joint holding company, Regional Plus Wings Corporation. Read More » From October this year the new company will work towards the proposed merger of the two carriers. The joint venture’s leadership team held a signing ceremony on May 30 to confirm the airline’s union, which will have launch capital of 100 million yen (US$777,765). Its chairman will be Air Do president, Susumu Kusano, and Solaseed Air president, Kosuke Takahashi, will be the new company’s president. Air Do, based in Hokkaido, has a fleet of four 767-300s and eight 737-700s. Miyazaki-headquartered Solaseed Air operates 14 737-800s. ANA HOLDINGS INC., the parent company of All Nippon Airways, was a shareholder in both Air Do and Solaseed Air. The two airlines said their deeper business alliance and cooperative relationship is planned to quickly recover the damaged financial base of both carriers, survive in the new business environment, provide more value to customers and achieve sustainable growth. The partnership is aiming for annual operating revenue of 100 billion yen by 2026 against 870 billion yen in 2019.
