Singapore Airlines (SIA), in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Temasek, will begin selling sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) credits in July. Read More » In a joint statement, the three partners said there will be 1,000 SAF credits available for sale, equating to 1,000 tonnes of neat SAF. Each credit purchased reduces 2.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. Initially, the scheme will be offered to SIA's corporate customers and freight forwarders, but the airline group said all of its customers will be able to purchase a mix of SAF credits and carbon offsets from the fourth quarter of 2022 as part of its voluntary carbon offset program. “As we progress with the SAF pilot in Singapore, we can offer more opportunities to our corporate customers and travellers to mitigate their carbon emissions using SAF credits, which are registered and accounted for within the RSB Book & Claim System,” SIA senior vice president corporate planning, Lee Wen Fen, said. “This will help accelerate and scale up the collective adoption of SAF, reinforcing our commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
