Hanjin KAL to sell Jin Air shareholding to Korean Air

Korean Air (KAL) is poised to return to full ownership of Jin Air after the parent company of both airlines, Hanjin KAL, decided to trade its 54.91% equity in the LCC to KAL. Read More » The transaction has been valued at 604.8 billion won (US$ 467.5 million) with the decision to sell approved at a Hanjin KAL board meeting on June 13, KAL’s website reports. Fully integrating Jin Air into KAL will support the proposed merger of the South Korean flag carrier and the various operating carriers of Asiana Airlines, local media reports. Jin Air was a KAL subsidiary when established in 2008.
