Etihad says no to Skytrax

Etihad Airways has withdrawn from the Skytrax World Airlines Awards and the Skytrax audit. It is believed the Abu Dhabi-based global carrier was unhappy with the lack of transparency at the company as well as inconsistencies in data collection systems at Skytrax. Read More » Etihad said in June it made the decision after a review of the measurements and criteria employed by the Skytrax Airline Rating System. The decision is a blow to Skytrax as Etihad is a leading global airline that is spending billions on modern airliners and cabin upgrades. “Skytrax said Etihad could not withdraw from the world airline awards because the results were decided by airline customers. “Skytrax does not exercise control over which airlines are nominated in the survey ratings, and to subsequently seek to impact on the results of a public vote would be unacceptable,” a company statement said.
