India’s newest LCC, Akasa Air, receives first 737 MAX

Read More » “Flying an advanced, environmentally progressive 737 MAX fleet with greater fuel efficiency and lower operating costs will enable Akasa Air to profitably serve the Indian market while passing those savings on to its passengers,” Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO, Stan Deal, said. The airline has said it hoped to begin commercial services in July and have an operating fleet of 18 aircraft by March next year. The Mumbai-based carrier received a no objection certificate from India's Ministry of Civil Aviation in last October. The following month it ordered 72 737 MAXs powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines. Akasa is expected to conduct a proving flight ahead of receiving an air operator certificate from India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
