Aircalin signs agreement with Airbus-Singapore Airlines training centre

New Caledonia flag carrier, Aircalin, has contracted for pilot training with Singapore’s Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC). Read More » The contract covers training for up to 35 Aircalin pilots on the A320 and A330 fleet types and Airbus cross qualification training for cockpit crew rated for one type to qualify to fly the other. Aircalin commenced nonstop flights between Noumea and Singapore on July 1. It will fly to Singapore from its Noumea hub with a twice a week A330-900 service, adding a third weekly flight on the route in September. “With regular flights between New Caledonia and Singapore, it was the prime choice for us to pursue a training agreement with AATC,” Aircalin CEO, Didier Tappero, said. “Our pilots will benefit from Airbus world class training services and facilities.” AATC is a joint venture between Airbus, which holds 55% equity in the company, and Singapore Airlines (45%). “We are extremely proud to welcome Aircalin to the Airbus Asia Training Centre,” AATC general manager, Zakir Hamid, said. “This agreement is another strong endorsement of the first class services offered by AATC, meeting airline training requirements closer to their home bases.”
