Qatar Airways to add daily Doha-Melbourne-Canberra to network from October 1

Qatar Airways will operate a second daily non-stop flight between its Doha hub and Melbourne from October 1. Read More » The additional service, flown by a 777-300ER, will continue to Canberra, Australia’s capital city. The oneworld alliance member previously served Canberra from Doha via Sydney. “Melbourne is the original home of Qatar Airways in Australia. We are excited to enhance our operations there as a testament to both strong demand and our deep commitment to Australia,” Qatar Airways group CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said. The additional daily service will be launched with the support of the Victorian government. “It is exciting to see airlines like Qatar Airways adding capacity into Melbourne. Given it is a global airline and could send its aircraft anywhere, it’s a huge vote of confidence in our city,” Melbourne Airport CEO, Lorie Argus, said. The new route will increase Qatar Airways operations into Australia to 40 flights a week across six destinations - Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
