SriLankan Airlines has rejected reports it is eliminating flights from its schedule because of fuel shortages. Read More » “SriLankan Airlines vehemently denies the accuracy of such information and confirms it has been managing its network with suitable adjustments for more than a week now - since the fuel shortage peaked in Sri Lanka,” the oneworld alliance member said. “Flight schedule changes necessary to manage the prevailing circumstances include the timing and duration of certain flights due to the introduction of tech stops in select foreign airports for fuel tankering purposes. However, SriLankan Airlines continues to operate its flight schedule close to 100% of efficiency despite any impediments and the operational implications of schedule revisions.” Sri Lanka has been suffering from fuel shortages in a financial crisis that resulted in the May resignation of prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Current prime minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, and SriLanka’s president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, are being forced from office following nation-wide protests about food and fuel shortages and power failures.
