September 20th 2022

Read More » The estimate is 45.5% below passenger performance levels of pre-pandemic 2019. The recovery is lagging behind other regions where customer traffic has rebounded to around 30%-40% below pre-COVID levels, ACI Asia-Pacific said. “Traffic in the region will not fully recover to 2019 levels unless all countries keep their borders open to facilitate freedom of movement,” ACI Asia-Pacific director general, Stefano Baronci, said. “China and Japan - two of the largest contributors to the region's overall traffic - have been slow in lifting travel and COVID restrictions. We are urging States to take a measured approach to facilitate recovery in a more sustainable manner without causing significant impact on their healthcare systems.” The airport lobby group's report added the Asia-Pacific’s global passenger share will dip below Europe next year.
