Japan to abandon quarantine rules and re-open to international tourists

Prime minister, Fumio Kishida, has announced Japan will remove quarantine requirements for inbound travellers and restore visa free travel for international visitors from October 11. Read More » The reopening of the country's international border will reintroduce independent travel and end testing requirements for fully vaccinated visitors to Japan. “Japan is ready to welcome you back,” All Nippon Airways CEO, Shinichi Inoue, said in a video message posted on social media. “I am very excited about this news and cannot wait to welcome you on board an ANA flight very soon.” Thirty two million tourists visited Japan in 2019, the last full year before the outbreak of the pandemic. By 2021, that number had collapsed to 250,000 visitors to the country, government statistics detail.
