China Southern Airlines records 31.7% dive in Mainland air passengers demand

China Southern Airlines (CSA) flew 5.3 million passengers on its domestic routes in September, down 31.7% month-on-month from the 7.7 million in-country passengers flown in August. Read More » The September figure was a 35% decline from the 8.1 million domestic passengers CSA flew in the same month in 2021. Domestic passenger load factor for the 30 days was 68.5%, against 69.3% and 69.1% in September 2021 and August 2022, respectively. In September 2019, CSA flew 10.8 million domestic passengers and recorded a passenger load factor of 82.3%. CSA added an A320neo, one 777-300ER and two 787-9s to its fleet last month and withdrew four A319s from flying.
