Air Tahiti orders ATR 72-600; confirms commitment for two ATR 42-600S

Air Tahiti has signed a firm order for an ATR 72-600 and its intention to acquire two short take-off and landing (STOL) ATR 42-600Ss. Read More » At the 2019 Paris Airshow, ATR announced Air Tahiti was the launch customer for the ATR 42-600S, now undergoing flight testing. Deliveries of the type are scheduled to commence in the final months of 2024. ATR said the STOL capability of the aircraft gave it access to 1,000 airports with runways of 800m and 1,000m in length. “At ATR, we invest in technology that provides affordable regional mobility and meets the sustainable objectives of stakeholders. The ATR 42-600S is a clear demonstration of this approach,” ATR CEO, Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, said. Air Tahiti general manager, Manate Vivish, added the ATRs will allow the South Pacific carrier to support the social and economic development of French Polynesia and that the new aircraft will ensure the airline can grow and also deliver sustainable connectivity.
