Japan Airlines to reduce fuel surcharges on international routes

Japan Airlines (JAL) has applied to the country's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to cut fuel surcharges for international passenger tickets sold in Japan. Read More » The revised surcharges are planned to apply to tickets purchased from December 1 to January 31. The decrease returns JAL's fuel surcharges to the levels of August 1 to September 30 this year. The oneworld alliance member's fuel surcharges for December and January will start at 5,900 yen (US$40) for flights from Japan to Korea and Far East Russia, down 23.4% from 7,700 yen in the previous two months. The highest fuel surcharges will be for flights to Europe, the Middle East, North America and Oceania, at 47,000 yen, a reduction of 17.8% from 57,200 yen previously. “JAL sets fuel surcharge levels bi-monthly based on the two-month average price of Singapore kerosene jet fuel,” the airline said.
