Virgin Australia (VA) has requested authorisation to operate an extra flight a week between Australia and Fiji. Read More » VA's October schedule is daily Sydney-Nadi, five flights weekly from Brisbane and three flights a week from Melbourne. For the northern hemisphere winter season, VA plans to offer double daily Sydney to Nadi and daily from Brisbane and Melbourne. VA said the peak season schedule utilised 4,224 seats in its allocation for the route, leaving 165 available. As VA's 737-800s have 176 seats, the airline’s remaining capacity was just short of an additional flight. “Additional capacity of 11 seats per week is therefore sought, to enable the operation of 25 full services (4,400 passengers) per week during peak periods,” VA said its submission to the manager of Australia's air traffic rights, the International Air Services Commission.
