Korean Air Cebu incident being thoroughly investigated promises airline’s president

Korean Air (KAL) president, Keehong Woo, said the airline is investigating the cause of an incident on Sunday night when a KAL A330-300 overran the runway at Cebu International Airport. Read More » “A thorough investigation will be performed with the local aviation authorities and Korean authorities to determine the cause(s) of this event,” Woo said. “We always prioritize safety in our operations. We truly regret the stress and inconvenience caused to our passengers. We remain committed to standing behind our promise of safe operations and will do our very best to institute measures to prevent any recurrence.” None of the 11 crew and 162 passengers on board was injured in the incident. The SkyTeam alliance carrier said the KE631 pilots attempted two landings in poor weather and overran the runway on a third attempt. Scores of flights into and out of Cebu were cancelled after the runway was closed for investigation.
