Qantas Group to operate six A380s by year-end

Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce, said the Australian carrier intends to have six A380s flying at the close of 2022 and all 10 of the type in its fleet operating by 2024. Read More » The airline grounded its 12 A380s after the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in early 2020. In August last year, it decided two of them would not return to the carrier. Joyce told a Sydney business lunch audience it took at least 4,500 hours, or 10 engineers working for two months, to bring a mothballed A380 back to service. After each A380 is authorised to fly out of storage, it must undergo another 100 days of maintenance, he said.
