China Southern Airlines domestic passenger traffic declines 23.5%

China Southern Airlines (CSA) flew 4 million passengers on its domestic network in October from 5.3 million passengers flown in September. Read More » The October figure was less than half the 8.6 million domestic passengers CSA carried in the same month in 2021. China’s carriers have been heavily impacted by Mainland COVID-19 lockdowns in recent months. Domestic passenger load factor for the 31 days was 67.4% compared with 70.3% in October 2021 and 68.5% in September 2022. For a comparison with pre-COVID-19 levels of flying, in October 2019 CSA flew 11.4 million domestic passengers and had a load factor of 84.1%.
