Japan Airlines cuts plastic use for in-cabin F&B products

Japan Airlines (JAL) has replaced various plastic in-cabin products with more sustainable alternatives in its effort to eliminate single-use plastics from its operations by 2025. Read More » The changes include swapping plastic cup lids, muddlers and straws with paper alternatives. The oneworld alliance member also is using paper-based containers and lids for economy class meals on international flights. Lids for side dishes and desserts and cups for alcoholic beverages will be made from recycled plastic. Shopping bags will be manufactured from a plant-based biodegradable product. “JAL Group is ramping up its commitment to sustainability, transforming air travel into a source of delight and pride through efforts such as striving for net-zero emissions by 2050,” it said.
