Australia international passengers rise 6.4% in September

Read More » The September numbers were also an order of magnitude above the 56,357 international passengers recorded in the same month in 2021, Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) has reported. Qantas Airways was Australia's largest airline for international passengers for the month, with a 17.6% share, followed by Singapore Airlines (SIA) at 12.3% and Qantas Group LCC Jetstar (11.9%). SIA's Scoot was in seventh place with a 4.9% market share. For a comparison with pre-COVID-19 levels, the passenger total for the 30 days represented 59.9% of the 3.5 million international passengers into and from Australia in the same month in 2019. “International passenger traffic continues to be severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the BITRE report said.
