Read More » The October results were more than eight times higher than the 1.4 million passengers transported by the region’s airlines in the same month in 2021, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said. “Lifting of travel restrictions in North East Asia in October was welcomed by the travelling public and the region’s airlines and resulted in substantial improvements in load factor,” AAPA director general, Subhas Menon, said. “Based on forward booking trends, the outlook for travel remains positive as we approach the final months of the year. But the region’s airlines are facing a challenging operating environment from high fuel prices, weak local currencies and manpower shortages.” The AAPA’s statistics are aggregated from the traffic data of 40 Asia-Pacific airlines. In pre-COVID-19 October 2019, the region’s airlines flew 30.7 million passengers, meaning the October 2022 total represented 39.6% of the passengers flown in the same month three years ago.
