Australia's competition regulator issues interim extension to Emirates Airline-Qantas Airways alliance

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has granted interim authorisation for Emirates Airline and Qantas to continue their alliance. Read More » Last November, the two carriers applied to renew authorisation for coordinating routes between Australia and Asia, Europe, the Middle East, New Zealand and North Africa for another five years beyond the upcoming March 31expiry date. “The interim authorisation commences immediately and allows the parties to continue coordinating their operations while the ACCC considers and evaluates the merits of the substantive application for authorisation,” ACCC Commissioner, Anna Brakey, said. A final decision is expected in May.
