Australia’s airlines flew 4.5 million passengers on their domestic networks in January

Airlines operating in Australia transported 4.5 million passengers on their domestic networks in January, up 75.5% from 2.6 million in-country passengers carried in the same month in 2022. Read More » The January figure was broadly in line with the 4.6 million domestic passengers airlines recorded for last December. “The domestic aviation industry continued to recover in January 2023,” Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) said. The January numbers were 88.6% of the 5.1 million domestic customers Australian carriers flew in the same month in pre-pandemic 2019.
