International air transport data documents “slowing declines” for air cargo

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said cargo tonne kilometres (CTK), a measure of demand, declined 7.5% last month compared with the same 28 days in 2022. It was the first time in eight months CTKs were higher than pre-pandemic levels. “The story of air cargo in February is one of slowing declines,” IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said. “An optimistic eye could see the start of an improvement trend that leads to market stabilisation and a return to more normal demand patterns after the dramatic ups and downs of recent years.”
