Cargo demand drops 7.7% in March, decline forecast to continue

In other sobering news for the sector, March CTKs were 8.1% below pre-pandemic March 2019. “Most of the indicators for the fundamental drivers of air cargo demand are weak or weakening,” IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said. “While the trading environment is tough, there is some good news. Airlines are receiving help in managing through the volatility because yields remain high and fuel prices have moderated from exceptionally high levels.”
