China’s regulator validates A330 converted freighter

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) said the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has approved its supplemental type certificate for its A330 passenger to freighter (P2F) aircraft conversion program. Read More » The company, a joint venture between Airbus and ST Engineering, delivered its first A330 freighter converted in China to CDB Aviation for lease by Sichuan Airlines. The CAAC validation will allow A330s registered in China to undergo conversions at EFW MRO shops in China or elsewhere. “Offering conversions in China to serve high demand is an important strategic decision for EFW,” EFW CEO, Jordi Boto, said. EFW has conversion facilities in Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai and a third-party conversion shop, operated by Haite, in Tianjin.
