Turkish Airlines yet to hear from Australia on flight request

Speaking at an Australian parliamentary enquiry, Turkish Airlines general manager for Australia, Ahmet Kutluoglu, said the airline was yet to receive a response from the Australian government on its application to fly to the country. Read More » Turkish Airlines was seeking additional flights beyond the seven frequencies available under the bilateral air services agreement between the two countries, as well as fifth-freedom rights. Talks to expand the bilateral were between the governments of Australia and Turkey. Kutluoglu described the discussions as slow. "To this day we are still expecting a reply," Kutluoglu said. "Our first plan was to start it December. Now it doesn't seem possible. I don't know how long these things usually take in Australia. Usually from our perspective we usually act a bit quicker."
