Airbus trims outlook for commercial aircraft services market

Airbus said in its Global Services Forecast (GSF) published overnight the market for commercial aircraft services was forecast to reach US$255 billion in value by 2042, up 96.2% from an expected US$130 billion this year. Read More » The outlook was down from the 144% growth projected in the 2022-2041 GSF, which tipped the services market to more than double in value from US$95 billion in 2022 to US$232 billion in 2041. “Airbus is well positioned to answer today’s and future services needs in order to support the industry doing more with less, increasing efficiency while reducing fuel consumption, emissions and noise,” Airbus senior vice president for customer services, Cristina Aguilar Grieder, said. The report said the biggest growth markets for the next two decades were China, the Middle East and South Asia, while the regions with the highest market volumes were the Asia-Pacific, China, Europe and North America. The GSF said the aviation sector was expected to need 2.2 million more skilled workers over the next 20 years, comprising 680,000 new technicians, 590,000 new pilots and 920,000 new cabin crew.
