Fiji Airways warns of payload limitations on four South Pacific turboprop routes

Fiji Airways has advised passengers booked to travel on its ATR turboprop flights to Funafuti International Airport in Tuvalu, Port Vila in Vanuatu, and Vava’u International Airport and Fua’amotu International Airport Tonga that their journeys may be subject to payload restrictions as a result of prevailing weather conditions in the region. Read More » “As a consequence, flights will operate with reduced seating capacity and some guests and checked bags may not be accepted on services for which they hold bookings,” Fiji Airways said. “In addition, until further notice, we have suspended acceptance of excess baggage and prepaid additional bags on these services and are restricting cargo acceptance to essential medical and humanitarian supplies. Whilst unfortunate and undesirable, this decision is made in the interest of the safety of our customers.” Fiji Airways said the payload limitations are expected to remain in place until next month. Passengers who wished to change their flights to dates after January 30, 2024 can do so free of charge.
