Alaska Airlines buys Hawaiian Airlines

Read More » As part of the transaction approved by the boards of the two companies, Alaska Air Group will acquire Hawaiian Airlines to form one airline group led by Alaska Airlines CEO, Ben Minicucci. The two operating brands will be retained. Hawaiian Airlines shareholders have been offered US$18 per share in cash, compared with its Friday closing price of US$4.86 on the U.S. NASDAQ. “Since 1929, Hawaiian Airlines has been an integral part of life in Hawaii. Together with Alaska Airlines we will be able to deliver more for our guests, employees and the communities we serve,” Hawaiian Airlines CEO, Peter Ingram, said. “With the additional scale and resources this transaction brings, we will accelerate investments in our guest experience and technology while maintaining the Hawaiian Airlines brand.” Alaska Airlines CEO, Ben Minicucci, said: “We have a longstanding and deep respect for Hawaiian Airlines because of its role as a top employer in Hawaii. Its brand and people carry the warm culture of aloha around the globe.” The transaction requires the approval of regulators and Hawaiian Holdings Inc. shareholders.
