Air New Zealand passenger numbers increased 2.1% in peak holiday month

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) flew 1.64 million passengers on its domestic and international networks last December, up from 1.61 million air travellers in the same month in 2022. Read More » Domestic passengers carried slipped 0.9%, to 1.1 million, Air NZ said in a regulatory filing, but international passengers flown were 8.3% higher, at 559,000 customers. The Star Alliance member expanded capacity, measured by Available Seat Kilometres (ASK), by 16.1% for the month, “largely driven by the resumption of the international network following the full re-opening of New Zealand’s border post-COVID”, an airline statement said, as well as noting domestic ASKs were 4% lower for the month.
