Australia-based charter and wet lease operator, ASL Airlines Australia (ASLA), has added a 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (737-800BCF), registration VH-CYK, to its fleet. Read More » The company said VH-CYK was the first 737-800BCF certified to operate in Australia. “Given the unique capabilities of the aircraft, ASLA is already in discussion with customers and expects to operate its first commercial revenue flights soon," ASLA said. "This is the first B737-800 in the ASLA fleet, and the airline expects to grow the fleet, adding aircraft over time to meet customer requirements." ASLA said VH-CYK was part of parent company ASL Aviation Holdings' (ASL) 737-800 conversion program, which comprised 40 aircraft to be placed with ASL operations in Australia, Belgium, France, Thailand, India and Ireland. ASLA was previously known as Pionair Australia before it was acquired by ASL in 2023. It operates freighter flights for Qantas Freight on behalf of Australia Post and FedEx.
