China Airlines books double-digit passenger growth; starts Taipei-Seattle

China Airlines (CAL) said passengers carried last month increased 12.2%, to 961,562, from the 856,661 customers flown in the same 30 days a year ago. Read More » But passenger revenue for the month was T$9.5 billion (US$292 million), down 11.3% from T$10.7 billion in June 2023. On a brighter note, cargo revenue climbed 17.6% to T$5 billion, CAL said. Passenger capacity expanded 6.8% in the year to June 2024, while the passenger load factor slipped 1.5 percentage points to 81.9%.Separately, CAL commenced Taipei-Seattle on July 15, joining the flag carrier’s North American network to Los Angeles, Ontario (California), San Francisco and New York in the U.S. and Canada’s Vancouver.
