Kuala Lumpur International Airport posts 17.6% increase in passengers for latest month

Malaysia Airports (MAHB) said passengers processed through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) were higher by 17.6%, at 4.7 million, in September an improvement from four million air travellers processed through its terminals in the same month in 2023. Read More » KLIA’s domestic passenger numbers were higher by 2.2%, at 1.3 million, and international passengers were up by 24.4%, or 3.5 million, MAHB said in a regulatory filing. International passenger movements at its airports in Malaysia reached 99.2% of pre-COVID-19 levels in the reported month compared with the matching 30 days in pre-pandemic 2019. “There has been a notable increase in passengers from China after the 30-day visa-free entry extension [into Malaysia] was extended to December 2025,” MAHB said in a regulatory filing. “The India sector recorded a 90% recovery against pre-COVID 2019 levels, indicating a growing latent travel demand from India,” it added.
