Airline association reports region’s airlines flew 30.5% more passengers across all networks last year

Read More » Despite increasing passenger traffic by almost a third, the 2024 results were 4.8% below the 383.5 million international passengers flown by Asia Pacific carriers in pre-pandemic 2019. Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) director general, Subhas Menon, said: "The post-pandemic recovery on Northeast Asia routes, helped by relaxation of visa policies and combined with overall healthy demand across the region drove growth in leisure and business travel markets," Menon said. "The outlook for air travel markets in 2025 remains broadly positive. However, airlines continue to be challenged by rising labour, maintenance and aircraft leasing costs and operational pressures caused by aircraft delivery delays."
