Air India to begin cabin revamp of 27 787s; suspends two long-haul routes

Read More » The Star Alliance member’s goal is to have two to three 787s enter the retrofit program each month until all aircraft are upgraded. While the 787 retrofit is going ahead in 2025 the flag carrier has pushed back the retrofitting of its 777s until 2026 due to production constraints at its seat suppliers. "Arising from the retrofit program and consequent temporary reduction in the operational fleet, the airline will suspend non-stop Mumbai-Melbourne from March 30 to September 13 and non-stop Kochi-London Gatwick route from this March 30 until further notice,” the airline said. Air India also has announced it will increase frequencies from its home hubs to Birmingham, London Gatwick and Heathrow, Nairobi, Seoul Incheon, Vienna and Zurich and up gauge Delhi-Hong Kong to wide-bodies from the end of March.
