Korean Air and U.S. OEMs add more engine back up and MRO enhancement to partnership

Read More » KAL also has signed a maintenance agreement for the KAL 777-9Xs with the aerospace group. The contracts, worth 48 trillion won (US$32.7 billion), were signed by KAL CEO, Walter Cho, GE Aerospace CEO commercial engines and services, Russell Stokes, and Boeing CEO, Kelly Ortberg, in Washington D.C. Last year KAL agreed a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing for 20 777-9Xs and 20 787-10s with options for 10 more aircraft. KAL is expediting its fleet renewal program following its merger with Asiana Airlines. The Boeing and GE Aerospace partnerships will maintain KAL’s fleet plan amid global supply chain challenges, the flag carrier said. “Boeing and GE Aerospace provide the advanced technology that powers our commitment to excellence,” Cho said. “Our partnership is essential to our vision of becoming the world’s most loved airline.
