Malaysia Aviation Group orders CFM LEAP engines for 737 MAXs

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and CFM International (CFM) have confirmed an order for 60 CFM LEAP-1B engines and additional spares, to power MAG’s new fleet of 30 737 MAXs. Read More »

A signing ceremony with MAG, Boeing and CFM was witnessed by Malaysia’s prime minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, in Kuala Lumpur on March 21.

“MAG has a long-standing partnership with CFM. Today we are happy to build on years of trust and shared vision to lead the future of aviation in Malaysia,” MAG group managing director, Captain Izham Ismail, said. MAG’s Malaysia Airlines operates 11 737 MAX 8s powered by CFMI engines. Overall, the group flies 47 Next-Generation 737s with CFM56-7Bs. MAG’s history with CFM goes back to the 1990s, when its airlines began operating CFM56-3-powered Boeing 737 Classic aircraft.
