SIA group announces record year; benefits from Air India-Vistara merger

Operating profit declined 37%, to S$1.71 billion from a year ago SIA said because passenger yields were down by 5.5% as a result of stiff competition and a capacity increase. Singapore Airlines and Scoot flew a combined record 39.4 million passengers in the 12 months, up 8.1%, with a group passenger load factor of 86.6%, a 1.4% dip. Passenger traffic growth of 6.4% lagged a capacity expansion of 8.2%, SIA added. At March 31, SIA had a 205 aircraft fleet with an average age of seven years and eight months. SIA was operating 145 passenger aircraft and seven freighters and Scoot was flying 53 passenger jets.
