Sun PhuQuoc Airways receives AOC

Vietnam-based Sun PhuQuoc Airways, a subsidiary of resorts and theme parks developer Sun Group, has received its air operator certificate (AOC) and approved training organisation (ATO) authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), paving the way for the carrier to launch commercial flights. Read More » The airline said ticket sales were expected to go on sale on October 15, with the inaugural flight to take off on November 1. Sun Group said Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ initial network aimed to connect the popular Vietnam tourist island of Phu Quoc with the country’s major tourism and economic hubs. Its planned routes included Phu Quoc–Da Nang, Phu Quoc–Hanoi and Phu Quoc–Ho Chi Minh City, as well as Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City–Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City-Van Don. "Being simultaneously approved for both AOC and ATO by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is a landmark achievement, affirming our thorough and holistic preparation," Sun PhuQuoc Airways CEO, Nguyen Manh Quan, said. "This is our strong commitment to delivering not only safe and high-quality flights, but also an exceptional experience backed by a team of elite professionals trained to the highest standards from the very beginning." The airline has selected the A320 family as its fleet type and said in August it expected to have eight aircraft by the end of the year.
