Singapore Changi passengers decline for a fourth straight month in July

The number of air travellers at Changi Airport fell 1.4% to 5.88 million in July compared with 5.97 million the same month last year. Read More » The figures represented a fourth consecutive month of year-on-year declines at Singapore Changi, following the sharp 8.5% jump for March, when the Israel- and U.S.-led war against Iran resulted in the closure of airspace across the Gulf region, grounding carriers such as Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways. The safe reopening of the airspace amid the ongoing conflict has allowed those Gulf carriers to resume operations and recapture traffic flows lost during the initial period of the war. The July figure was also 0.5% below the 5.91 million passengers who travelled through Changi in pre-COVID-19 period in July 2019. Changi passenger traffic was also below pre-COVID-19 levels in June. On a more positive note, passenger traffic through the first seven months of calendar 2026 was 0.1% above the same period in 2025 and 4% higher than in 2019.
