Vistara names new CEO

Vistara, the Gurgaon-headquartered full-service carrier launched as a joint venture between Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Tata Group, has announced that Leslie Thng will succeed Phee Teik Yeon, as CEO in October. Read More » Yeoh will return to Singapore and take up a senior appointment in the SIA Group.

Thng, a SIA veteran just like Yeoh, “has significant experience across international markets and various businesses”, the Group said. Most recently, he has been CCO for Budget Aviation Holdings, the SIA-owned holding company of low-cost carriers Tigerair and Scoot and also has run SilkAir, SIA’s regional subsidiary.

Thng will lead Vistara in its next phase of growth, including “international operations, building on the solid foundation and momentum achieved by the airline under the leadership of Phee Teik Yeoh,” the group said. Vistara is expected to launch long-haul flights from India by the turn of the decade with aircraft sourced from parent SIA’s order books with Airbus and Boeing.
