China holds off clearing MAX for Mainland flying

A Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) official said yesterday the regulator's concerns about the 737 MAX have yet to be fully resolved, China media reports. Read More » CAAC deputy director, Dong Zhiyi, said in a government briefing yesterday the regulator would conduct recertification flight tests after major safety concerns were addressed and added the regulator was in ongoing talks with Boeing and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the MAX's return to service in China. The FAA, European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), among others, have cleared the MAX for return to service.
