Japan tightens rules for inbound international air travellers

From today, international passengers flying into Japan must produce a certificate of testing showing a negative result for COVID-19. Read More » It must be issued within 72 hours before departure to allow passengers to proceed to boarding for their Japan-bound flights. Arriving passengers must install an app on their smartphones to monitor their self-quarantine at home or in hotels for 14 days after landing in the country and also sign a written pledge. The border control measures were instigated in response to an increasing number of new strains of the COVID-19 virus being identified. Japan is closed to foreign visitors. Only returning Japanese citizens and foreign residents are being allowed to enter the country.
