IATA announces cash burn slowing at airlines

Figures from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) show airlines slowed their rate of cash burn in the first three months of 2021. Read More » Net cash flow from operating activities fell 5% in the quarter to March 31, an improvement from the 37% drop in net cash flow in the final three months of calendar 2020. The airline lobby group said free cash flow was 18% lower in the first quarter of 2021 compared with a fall of 52% in the fourth quarter of 2020. In the Asia-Pacific, net cash flow and free cash flow at airlines dropped 12% and 20%, respectively, in the first quarter of this year compared with decline of 19.9% and 37.5%, respectively, in the fourth quarter of 2020.
