China Eastern launches electronic log book on Boeing777 fleet

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has debuted an electronic log book (ELB) this week on its 777 fleet. Read More » The ELB replaces paper-based log books. CEA said the ELB was rolled out across 750 aircraft and could save the airline about 20 million yuan (US$3.1 million) a year from lower labor and paper printing costs. It also saved weight on board aircraft. CEA’s fleet was certified to deploy the ELB by the Civil Aviation Administration of China from June 7. The SkyTeam alliance member is working on extending the ELB to other aircraft types in its fleet.
