Read More » The cargo-only flight, KE8047, departed Seoul Incheon at 2114 local time on June 12 and flew 7,238nm in 14 hours and 42 minutes to Florida, KAL said. The journey eclipsed KAL's previous record of 6,775nm from Seoul Incheon to Atlanta. The record-breaking flight was operated by a 777-300ER converted from a passenger configuration to cargo-only services. It transported about 25 tonnes of COVID-19 diagnostic kits bound for the Dominican Republic. KAL said 16 of its passenger aircraft – 10 777s and six A330s – have had their seats removed for cargo operations. There also are two 777s with cargo seat bags installed on passenger seats in the KAL fleet. "Korean Air will continue its efforts to alleviate the current logistics crisis by maximising freighter operation rates and increasing cargo-only passenger flights and chartered flights," KAL said.
