It will provide a monthly special allowance for six months, catered meals for affected workers during their shifts for the same period and help cover the cost of personal protective equipment (PPE), CAG and CAAS said in a joint statement. "CAAS and CAG have been working closely with the airport community, including companies and unions under the NTUC Aerospace & Aviation Cluster, to address the needs and concerns of airport workers and help them adapt to the enhanced measures," they said. The enhanced safety measures were introduced in response to a COVID-19 outbreak at Changi Airport. They required some staff working in passenger terminal piers, arrival immigration halls and baggage claim areas, which were at higher risk of exposure to the virus, to remain in their zones throughout their shifts, including meal and rest times, and to wear higher levels of PPE.
