Asiana Airlines highlights strong cargo performance

The airline shipped 1,778 tons of the fruit out of California from April to June and will transport approximately 5,000 more tonnes of the in-demand stone fruit by the end of August. The Star Alliance member said cherries were expected to contribute to an improved cargo performance at the carrier in the second and third quarters of 2021 because (northern) summer was regarded as the off-season for the air cargo market. Asiana also flew 7,000 tonnes of eggs from the U.S. in the first half of 2021. It said cargo volumes on American routes in the second quarter of this year rose 19.8%, to 71,869 tons, compared with the same quarter in 2020.
